What is Tech Neck?

Many people spend hours each day looking down at phones, computers, and tablets without realizing the strain in places on the body. Over time, poor posture can contribute to neck pain, headaches, shoulder tension, and stiffness - commonly referred to as “tech neck”.

Tech Neck describes the stress placed on the neck and upper spine from prolonged forward-head posture while using digital devices.

When the head shifts forward repeatedly, the muscles and joints in the neck work harder to support its weight.

Common symptoms of Tech Neck:

  • Neck Stiffness

  • Shoulder Tightness

  • Headaches

  • Upper Back discomfort

  • Reduced mobility

  • Poor Posture

  • Tingling or tension in the arms

Chiropractic care focuses on improving spinal alignment, posture, mobility, and muscle tension. Treatment plans may help reduce strain caused by prolonged desk work and device use.

At One Spine Chiropractic, we work with patients in the area experiencing posture-related discomfort from everyday activities.

Some Tips to reduce Tech Neck:

  1. Raise your screen to eye level

  2. Take posture breaks throughout the day

  3. Stretch the neck and shoulders regularly

  4. Improve workstation ergonomics

  5. Avoid looking down at phones for long periods.
